【図に七間】
六角の物を坪つもる事
角のおもて七間ある時此坪なに
ほとそといふ時に
[百廿七坪三分二毛有といふ]
法に七間を左右にをきかくれは四九と成也これに
六角法二五九八をかくれは百廿七坪三分二毛
あるといふ也
○又法に七間左右￣ニをきかくれは四九と成これに四三
三の法をかくれは二一二一七と成是に又六をかくれは
百廿七坪三分二毛ともしるゝ也

**六角形の土地の坪数を計算する方法**
角の一辺が七間あるとき、この坪数はどれほどかと問う場合、
［答え：百二十七坪三分二毛あるという］
法に、七間を左右（すなわち自乗）に置いて掛けると、四十九となる。これに六角の法（定数）二・五九八を掛けると、百二十七坪三分二毛あるという。
○また別の法に、七間を左右に置いて掛けると四十九となる。これに四・三三の法（定数）を掛けると二十一・二一七となる。さらにこれに六を掛けると、百二十七坪三分二毛となるとも知るべし。

**八角形の土地。ただし角の一辺がそれぞれ六間ずつある。この坪数はどれほどあるかと問う場合、**
［答え：百七十三坪八分三厘あるという］
法に、六間を左右に置いて掛けると三十六となる。これに二を掛けると七十二となる。これを八角の法（定数）四・一四二で割ると、百七十三坪八分三厘となるとも知るべし。

**Method for calculating the area (in tsubo) of a hexagonal plot**
When each side of the hexagon is 7 ken, if one asks how many tsubo the area is:
[Answer: It is said to be 127 tsubo 3 bu 2 mo.]
Method: Place 7 ken on both sides (i.e., square it); the result is 49. Multiply this by the hexagonal constant 2.598, and the result is 127 tsubo 3 bu 2 mo.
○ Alternatively: Place 7 ken on both sides and multiply, giving 49. Multiply this by the constant 0.433, giving 21.217. Multiply this further by 6, and the result is likewise 127 tsubo 3 bu 2 mo.

Method: Place 6 ken on both sides and multiply, giving 36. Multiply this by 2, giving 72. Divide this 72 by the octagonal constant 4.142 (i.e., 0.4142), and the result is 173 tsubo 8 bu 3 ri.
