【右丁】
ばかりに六五をかくれは、三丈五尺五寸と成。是□【をヵ】
一丈五尺にかくれは、五三二五と成。これに長さ
四百間をかくる時、二一三と成。これを四二二五
にてわれは、 五千四十一坪四合二勺としるゝ也#1。
又、二一三を六五にて二たびわりても同事也#2。
※ほりのながさ四百／間（けん）五尺にひろさ五間□【三ヵ】尺と
ふかさ二間二尺有時、此坪数何ほど有ぞととう
五千五拾一坪一合壱勺有といふ
法に、四百間五尺を四百ばかりに六五をかくれは、
弐百六拾丈五尺と成。是にひろさも右之ごとく

して、これを長にかけて又ふかさも一丈五尺に
なして、右之にかくれは、一三八七一六二五と□る。
是を右に／別（へち）に／置（おき）、又左に坪の法二七四六二五
をきてこれにて右をわる時に、五千五拾□□【一坪ヵ】
一合壱勺としるへし#3。

現代語訳
【右丁】
分に6.5を掛けると、三丈五尺五寸となる。これを
一丈五尺に掛けると、5325となる。これに長さ
四百間を掛けるとき、213となる。これを4225
で割ると、五千四十一坪四合二勺となる。
また、213を65で二回割っても同じことである。
※堀の長さ四百間五尺、幅五間三尺、
深さ二間二尺があるとき、この坪数はどれほどあるかという問いに
五千五十一坪一合一勺あるという
計算法：四百間五尺を、四百分に65を掛けると、
二百六十丈五尺となる。これに幅も前述のとおく

して、これを長さに掛けて、また深さも一丈五尺に
換算して、前述のものに掛けると、138716625となる。
これを右に別に置き、また左に坪の法27462.5
を置いて、これで右の数を割るとき、五千五十一坪
一合一勺となる。
※五千坪があるとき、堀口の幅五間、深さ
二間半にして、その五千坪の長さを問うとき

and depth of 2 ken 2 shaku, and asked how many tsubo this amounts to:
Answer: 5,051 tsubo 1 gō 1 shaku
Calculation method: For 400 ken 5 shaku, multiply the 400 portion by 65 to get
260 jō 5 shaku. Apply the same method to the width as described above

and multiply this by the length, and also convert the depth to 1 jō 5 shaku
and multiply by the above, resulting in 138,716,625.
Place this on the right separately, and on the left place the tsubo conversion factor 27,462.5,
and when dividing the right number by this, the result is 5,051 tsubo
1 gō 1 shaku.
※When there are 5,000 tsubo, with a moat opening width of 5 ken and depth of
2 ken and a half, and asking for the length of those 5,000 tsubo:
○ Answer: The length becomes 400 ken
Calculation method: Multiply 5 ken by 2 ken and a half to get 12.5.
