竹姫君御方へ 右同断
一、同日（七月二十五日）
於義丸様の御名代として御礼を申し上げるよう、先達って仰せ出されたことにつき、
宗矩様より御用番・堀田相模守（正亮）殿へ、御名代の名元書付を、
御使者・御留守居の大谷一右衛門（良次）をもって差し出した。
この度、養子の御礼申し上げ候節
於義丸 名代

右の通りに御座候。以上。

宗矩様へ、御老中連名の御切紙が届いた。
明（あす）二十八日、五つ時（午前八時頃）に登城し、
養子を仰せ出され候御礼を申し上げるべきこと。
もっとも、長袴を着用すべきこと。且つ又、於義丸の名代一人も、
これまた長袴着用にて登城するよう致すべきこと。以上。

Item: On the same day (the twenty-fifth day of the seventh month),
As it had previously been ordered that the congratulatory ceremony should be performed on behalf of O-Yoshimaru-sama as his proxy (mydai), Munenori-sama dispatched the resident steward (o-rusui) Ōtani Ichiemon (Yoshitsugu) as messenger to the duty official (Goyōban) Hotta Sagami-no-kami (Masasuke), submitting a written statement naming the proxy representative.
On the occasion of presenting congratulations for the adoption,

A written notice (kirigami) bearing the joint signatures of the senior councillors (rōjū) arrived for Munenori-sama.
On the twenty-eighth day of tomorrow, at the Hour of the Fifth (approximately 8 o'clock in the morning), you are to proceed to the castle and present your congratulations for the pronouncement of the adoption.
Moreover, formal long hakama (nagabakama) are to be worn. Furthermore, one proxy representative for O-Yoshimaru is likewise to proceed to the castle wearing formal long hakama.
