現代語訳

劉廷琦

銅雀台

銅台の宮殿は灰塵に委ね
魏主の園陵は漳水の浜
即今西望するもなお思いに堪えたり
況んや復た当時の歌舞人をや

銅雀台は戦災で燃えてしまったため、灰と埃となって跡形もなく全く平らになってしまった。「委する」とは埋もれてしまうことを言う。魏主の園陵のあたりを見れば、漳水のほとりにあるが寂しいことだ。

今、西方を望んで見るに、英雄と言われた人の跡もなくなるものかなと思うに堪えて、目も当てられない。今でさえ見るに堪え難い。まして昔の歌舞の宮女がこの台の上より眺め見た時は、さぞかし悲しかったであろう。

Bronze Sparrow Platform

The palace halls of the Bronze Platform are committed to ash and dust
The garden tomb of the Wei lord lies by the banks of Zhang River
Even now, gazing westward, one can still bear the thoughts
How much more so for the singing and dancing performers of that time

The Bronze Sparrow Platform burned down in warfare, so it became ash and dust with no trace remaining, completely flattened. "To commit" means to be buried and lost. Looking at the area around the Wei lord's garden tomb, it stands by the Zhang River banks, but how lonely it is.

Now, looking westward, thinking that even the traces of those called heroes have vanished, one can barely bear to look. Even now it's hard to bear seeing this. How much more so when the singing and dancing palace ladies of old gazed out from atop this platform - how sorrowful it must have been for them.
