現代語訳

塞下曲　常建

玉帛朝回望帝京
烏孫帰去不称王
天涯静処無征戦
兵気銷為日月光

蛮夷の国王が、帝京（都）を望み慕って来朝し、中国に帰服して玉帛を持って朝参するゆえに、蛮夷も今までは王号を名乗っていたけれども、烏孫も中国に従い服して王と称しない。天の果てまで静かに治まって征伐のような事はない。軍があれば天に兵気が棚引くが、それも消失して、日月も明らかに輝いて清平の世となった。昔こうした事があった。良い天子がいます時の事を言う。

"Song from the Frontier" by Chang Jian

With jade and silk tribute, returning from court, gazing toward the imperial capital
The Wusun having returned, no longer claim the title of king
In quiet places at heaven's edge, there are no military campaigns
The martial energy has dissipated to become the light of sun and moon

The barbarian king, longing for and revering the imperial capital, came to pay tribute and submitted to China, bringing jade and silk for court audience. Although these barbarians had previously claimed royal titles, the Wusun too submitted to China and no longer call themselves kings. All is peacefully governed to the ends of heaven with no征campaigns or battles. When there are wars, martial energy spreads across the sky, but this too has dissipated, and the sun and moon shine clearly, creating an era of great peace. Such things happened in ancient times. This speaks of the time when there was a good emperor.
