丁内候儀類□以来連々衰微
困窮仕御伝馬御役儀并諸
御役義等茂相勤□罷在候所
近年別而不景気ニ付空屋等
御座候而家賃之儀茂御伝馬

因之諸荷物問屋候儀何卒
以 御慈悲丁内へ限り被為 仰付
被下置候ハヽ丁内賑合助成ニ茂
相成商売方潤ニ茂罷成
一統ニ難有仕合奉存候御運上

【右丁】
恐れながら口上書をもって申し上げます。
町内の状況は、近年来ずっと衰退し困窮しており、御伝馬役や諸々の御役儀なども務めておりますが、近年は特に不景気のため空き家などがあり、家賃の件も御伝馬役の雇い賃だけで済ませているところが数多くあり、極めて難儀しております。
そのため、諸荷物問屋の件について、何卒御慈悲をもって町内に限り仰せ付けていただけますならば、町内の賑わいや助成にもなり、商売も潤うようになり、皆にとって有り難い仕合せと存じます。御運上の件は、仰せ付けられました通りに御上納いたしたく存じます。荷問屋の件は万屋庄蔵と和泉屋源次郎が引き受けたく願い上げます。
右の趣旨をもって申し上げます。

Humbly submitted in writing:
The conditions within our town district have been continuously declining and impoverished for many years now. While we continue to fulfill our post-horse duties and various other official obligations, the recent particularly poor economic conditions have resulted in many vacant houses. Regarding rent matters, there are numerous cases where we can only manage with the wages from post-horse duties alone, creating extreme hardship.
Therefore, regarding the matter of becoming a wholesale dealer for various goods, if you would graciously grant this privilege limited to within our town district, it would contribute to the prosperity and support of our district, our commercial activities would flourish, and it would be a most grateful arrangement for all residents. Regarding the official tribute, we intend to make payment to the authorities as instructed. For the cargo wholesale business, Yorozuya Shōzō and Izumiya Genjirō wish to undertake this responsibility.
