層巒畳嶂廻瀾狂涛￣ハ。其

唐詩選画本続編が完成した。私に題言を求められた。私は絵について知らないが、詩について言おう。
層をなす峰々と重なる山々、うねる波と狂う大波は、
その長い歌行体の詩であろうか。遠くの木々と疎らな麓、
山間の町と漁師の村落は、その五言・七言の絶句であろうか。

The sequel to the Tang Poetry Selection Picture Book has been completed. I was asked to write a preface. I do not know about painting, but I will speak of poetry.
The layered peaks and overlapping mountain ranges, the rolling waves and raging billows—
are these not the long narrative poems? The distant trees and sparse foothills,
the mountain towns and fishing villages—are these not the five- and seven-character quatrains?
