《割書：天子（てんし）の行幸（ぎやうこう）なさるゝ回磴（くはいとう）の石坂山みちも久しく行幸がなきゆへ草（くさ）がはへしげりさへきつて｜御車（みくるま）のすゞの音（おと）もたへたこの清花宮（せいくはきう）のあたりに雲間（うんかん）に秀（ひいで）た大木もしん〳〵とおく｜ふかくしげりこんだその中の碧殿（へきでん）などもものすごくしてたれ往来（わうらい）するものもなくさび｜しいていじやたゞ昔（むかし）にかはらぬ明月はてらし来り照（てら）しさつてちがはねどもむかしは玄宗（げんさう）も貴妃（きひ）など｜ととも〴〵この宮殿（きうでん）で大／勢（ぜい）引つれてなぐさんだが今は此／玉闌干（きよくらんかん）よりて此月をみるものもない》

草が回り階段を遮り、鈴の音は絶える 雲に覆われた木々は深々と茂り、翠の殿は寒々としている
明月は自ら来たりて還って自ら去る 更に人の玉の欄干に寄りかかる者もなし
《注釈：天子の行幸なさる回り階段の石坂や山道も、久しく行幸がないゆえ草が生い茂って遮り、御車の鈴の音も絶えてしまった。この華清宮のあたりに雲間にそびえ立つ大木も深々と奥深く茂り込んで、その中の翠殿なども物すごく、誰も往来する者もなく寂しくて荒れ果てている。ただ昔に変わらぬ明月は照らし来たり照らし去って違わないけれども、昔は玄宗皇帝も楊貴妃などと共々この宮殿で大勢引き連れて楽しんだが、今はこの玉の欄干に寄りかかってこの月を見る者もいない》

Grass blocks the winding steps, the sound of bells ceases; cloud-covered trees grow deep and thick, the jade palace stands cold
The bright moon comes of itself and departs of itself; no longer is there anyone leaning against the jade balustrade
Commentary: The stone steps and mountain paths of the winding stairways where the emperor used to make his imperial visits have long been without such visits, so grass has grown thick and blocks the way, and the sound of the imperial carriage bells has ceased. Around this Huaqing Palace, the great trees towering among the clouds grow deep and thick, and within them the jade halls stand eerily empty, with no one coming and going—lonely and desolate. Only the bright moon, unchanged from ancient times, continues to shine and illuminate as it passes, never varying. But whereas in the past Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei would enjoy themselves here in this palace with large retinues, now there is no one leaning against this jade balustrade to gaze upon the moon.
