《割書：手前（てまへ）においては只今は帝（みかど）の御／寵愛（てうあい）にもあつからねば宮門をとぢてつゐに開た事もなく舞衣（ぶい）も帝（みかと）の御そばへ｜出るといふこともなければすてゝ置て着（き）るといふ事もなくひまである略（ほゝ）とは慥（たしか）にやうすはしらねども｜大がいは知れてゐる天子（てんし）が若ければまだ用ひらるゝこともあらふが君王の鬢（ひん）に白髪（しらが）がまじりて御年｜よられたれば最早（もはや）てうあいもあるまい是に付ても浦山しいは此花／落（おち）ちれ共誰もとがめず心まゝに風にまかせ｜て御／溝（こう）の水とゝもに流れ出るが我は一／旦（たん）君の御手の付た者なれば人間に出る事もならず宮中に年よりはてる》

宮門は長く閉ざされ、舞衣は埃まみれである
ほぼ察するに、君王の鬢髪は既に斑白となっている
かえって羨むのは落花の春、何も構わず
御溝を流れて人間世界に到ることができることを

《割書：私においては今は帝の御寵愛を受けることもないので、宮門を閉ざしてついに開いたこともなく、舞衣も帝の御そばへ出るということもないので捨て置いて着るということもなく暇である。ほぼとは確かに様子は知らないが、大体は分かっている。天子が若ければまだ用いられることもあろうが、君王の鬢に白髪が混じって御年を取られたので、もはや寵愛もあるまい。これについても羨ましいのは、この花は落ちても誰も咎めず、心のままに風に任せて御溝の水とともに流れ出るが、私は一旦君の御手が付いた者なので、人間世界に出ることもできず、宮中で年老いてしまうことである》

Palace Poem
The palace gates have long been closed, and the dancing robes are dusty
I can roughly perceive that the sovereign's temples have already turned gray
Instead, I envy the falling flowers of spring, which without concern
Can flow along the imperial canal and reach the human world

《Commentary: As for myself, I am no longer favored by the emperor's affection, so the palace gates remain closed and have never been opened, and since my dancing robes are never worn to appear before the emperor, they are left unused and I have much idle time. "Roughly" means that while I do not know the situation with certainty, I generally understand it. If the Son of Heaven were young, I might still be employed, but since the sovereign's temples are streaked with white hair and he has aged, there will likely be no more imperial favor. What I find enviable about this is that these flowers, even when they fall, are blamed by no one and can freely follow the wind, flowing out with the water of the imperial canal, while I, having once been touched by the sovereign's hand, cannot go out into the human world and must grow old within the palace》
