平沙に落日大荒の西に
隴上の明星高くまた低し
孤山幾処にか烽火を看る
戦士営を連ねて鼓鼙を候つ

《割書：平らな砂漠の夕日が、果てしない世界の端、大荒の西を見れば、隴山の上にある星がたった今まで高いと思えば低く垂れて、とっくに夜に入ったので、孤立した山のいくつもの場所で、のろし火が見えるため、戦士の陣屋を立て並べている者たちが、今や陣太鼓の音がするかと、しばらくも油断をしないということである。この詩は何を言ったことともしれないが、辺境の様子を詠んだものであるという》

The bright stars above Long Mountain are high, then low again
On isolated peaks, how many places can one see the beacon fires?
Warriors with camps lined up await the sound of drums and war drums

《Commentary: The evening sun over the flat desert, looking at the end of the endless world, the western great wilderness - the stars above Long Mountain that seemed high just moments ago now hang low, and since night has fully fallen, beacon fires can be seen in various places on the isolated mountains. The warriors who have set up their camps in rows remain vigilant, listening for the sound of war drums without relaxing their guard for even a moment. Though one may not fully understand what this poem expresses, it is said to describe the conditions of the frontier》
