《割書：復（かたき）｜讐（うち）》化物世界夜半嵐（ばけものせかいよはのあらし）自序（じじよ）
作者（さくしや）鬼武（おにたけ）智恵袋（ちへふくろ）の底（そこ）を払（はたき）書肆（しよし）に趣向（しゆかう）を
問（とへ）ば答（こたへて）曰（いはく）世（よ）の諺（ことわざ）にも怖物（こわいもの）見たしといへば
今年（ことし）は夭怪（ばけもの）の世界を一部（いちぶ）綴（つゞ）り給へと
於此（こゝにおいて）予 初頃（いとけなきころ）近隣（きんじよ）の主人（おじさま）内方（おばさま）抔（など）に聞（きゝ）置（おけ）る
根（ね）なしことに作意（さくい）を交（まじ）へ三巻（みまき）の書（しよ）を編（あみ）て
下（はんもと）に与（あた）ふ由来（もとより）箱根（はこね）から此方（こつち）の怪物（ばけもの）稗史（さうし）

『復讐 化物世界夜半嵐』自序
作者鬼武が知恵袋の底を叩いて、書肆（出版業者）に企画を
尋ねたところ、答えて言うには「世間の諺にも『怖いもの見たさ』と言うではないか。
今年は化け物の世界を一部書き綴ってください」とのことであった。
そこで私は、幼い頃に近所の叔父様や叔母様などから聞いて覚えている
根拠のない話に創作を交えて三巻の書を編んで
版元に渡すのである。もともと箱根からこちら側の怪物についての小説は
田舎者の愚かな考えだとお思いください。

Preface to "Revenge: A World of Monsters in the Midnight Storm"
When the author Onitake racked his brains and asked a publisher about story ideas,
the publisher replied: "As the common saying goes, 'People want to see scary things.'
This year, please write a volume about the world of monsters."
Therefore, I have compiled three volumes by mixing my own creative ideas with
groundless tales that I heard from neighboring uncles and aunts when I was young,
and I present this work to the publisher. Please consider this collection of monster stories
from this side of Hakone as nothing more than the foolish ideas of a country bumpkin.
