○御油 ●宝飯郡ニあり、今八幡村ノ内、字ハ上宿といへる所古の宿也といへり、

へ御調（ミツギ）の油を献るなり、二百五十年已前御油と改め星野￣ノ池の水

もと五井と書、同名の村三ケ所あり、此所中五井なり、草壁親王の行坊所へ、当
所の油屋、灯明の油を御用立し故、後代駅号とす、

○御油 ●宝飯郡にあり、今は八幡村の内で、字は上宿という所が古の宿場であるという。
●『三川雀』によると、三河には上中下三ヶ所の五井があり、中の五井より禁中
へ貢物の油を献上するのである。二百五十年ほど前に御油と改名し、星野某の池の水を
禁中の御鬢水とし、御油の油と一緒に献上したと申し伝えられている。●『世諺弁略』巻二の二十四丁によると、
もとは五井と書き、同名の村が三ヶ所あり、この所は中五井である。草壁親王の行在所へ、当
所の油屋が、灯明の油を御用立てしたので、後の世に駅名とした。

○Goyu ●Located in Hoi District, now within Hachiman Village, the area called Kamijuku is said to be the old post station.
●According to "Mikawa Suzume," there are three Goi (Five Wells) in Mikawa - upper, middle, and lower - and oil tribute was offered to the Imperial Court from the middle Goi. About 250 years ago it was renamed Goyu, and water from Hoshino's pond was offered to the Imperial Court as御鬢水 (water for the imperial coiffure) together with oil from Goyu, it is said. ●"Segen Benryaku" volume 2, folio 24 states that it was originally written as Goi, with three villages of the same name, this place being the middle Goi. Oil merchants from this location provided lamp oil for Prince Kusakabe's temporary palace, which later became the station name.
