さしていふ今 此書（このしよ）も是に準（じゆん）ず
一 同名異花（どうめいゐくは）同花異名（どうくはゐめう）一 種（しゆ）二 名（めう）二 種（しゆ）
一 名（めう）同名別種（どうめいべつしゆ）これら條下（でうか）に詳（つまびらか）に記（しるす）
一 種類（しゆるい）にて一 品（ひん）なるは目録（もくろく）に其（その）一 名（めう）を
附（ふ）して是を分（わけ）たり
一 開花（かいくは）の時候（じかう）凡（をよそ）定（さだ）まりありといへども
土地（とち）の寒暖（かんだん）歳々（とし〳〵）の順気（じゆんき）によりて
遅速（ちそく）あれば強（しゐ）て窮（きはめ）がたし故（ゆへ）に今（いま）

桐谷（きりがやつ）の変（へん）なれば桐谷（きりがやつ）の部（ぶ）の次（つぎ）に

一 童蒙（どうもう）見分（みわけ）安（やす）からしめんが為（ため）凡例（はんれい）の

と指定して言う。今この書もこれに準じる。
一 同名異花、同花異名、一種二名、二種一名、同名別種、これらは条項の下に詳しく記す。
一 種類において一品種であるものは目録にその一つの名前を付けて、これを分けた。
一 開花の時候はおよそ決まりがあるといっても、土地の寒暖や年々の気候の順調さによって早い遅いがあるので、強いて極めがたい。故に今この書の配列は、その花木の基となる一般的なもの、あるいは花の形の似ているものを順々に置く。例えば江戸桜、楼間桜、楊貴妃桜などは、これらは桐ケ谷桜の変種であるので、桐ケ谷桜の部の次に属する。

Although the timing of flowering generally has fixed patterns, there are variations in earliness or lateness depending on the warmth or cold of the location and the favorable climate of each year, so it is difficult to determine precisely. Therefore, the arrangement in this present book places in sequence those flower trees that are the basic general types, or those with similar flower forms. For example, Edo-zakura, Rōma-zakura, Yōkihi-zakura and such—these being variants of Kirigaya-zakura, they belong next to the Kirigaya-zakura section.
