御家中之面々質素倹約御制服之義先年ゟ
度々被 仰出候御趣意有之候得共近年花美ニ
相染候世風ニ有之自然相弛ミ候向も有之哉ニ相見へ
別而不心得如何之事ニ候条以後御制服ハ勿論
質素倹約相守可申候万一心得違候向有之
尋等ニ及候様之義有之候而ハ第一奉恐入不相添
候事ニ候間重々厚相心得此上共先々武備之筋相
心懸候様有之度候将亦市郷之者共之儀ニ付別紙之通
相觸候条御家中召仕之者共右ニ引合無油断可申付候
且大里住池田三名士へも不相洩様可被申聞支配
之者共へも相達候様可被申聞候随而此度之義ハ觸達ニハ
不相成候間各ゟ崎【嶋＝誤記ヵ】々ニ而両三人呼懸篤と演舌相加へ
何れも不心得無之様可被申聞義可有了簡旨御目

御家中の面々の質素倹約・御制服の件について、先年より度々お達しがあった御趣意があるにもかかわらず、近年華美に染まった世の風潮があり、自然と緩んでいる向きもあるように見受けられ、特に心得違いで困ったことである。したがって今後、御制服はもちろん質素倹約を守るべきである。万一心得違いをする者があり、取り調べなどに及ぶようなことがあっては、第一に恐れ入り、不都合なことであるから、重々厚く心得て、この上とも先々武備の筋に心がけるようにしてほしい。また市中・郷村の者どもの件について別紙の通り触れを出すので、御家中の召し使いの者どもを右に照らし合わせて油断なく申し付けるべきである。
かつ大里住の池田三名の士へも漏れることのないよう申し聞かせ、支配の者どもへも伝達するよう申し聞かせるべきである。なお今度の件は触達にはしないので、各自より島々にて両三人を呼び集めて篤と演説を加え、いずれも心得違いのないよう申し聞かせる義、了簡あるべき旨、御目付中より申し達すこと

Regarding the matter of frugality, economy, and official dress regulations for all retainers of the domain, although directives have been issued repeatedly since previous years, it appears that some have become lax due to the recent trend toward extravagance in society, which is particularly troubling and shows poor understanding. Therefore, henceforth, not only official dress regulations but also frugality and economy must be observed. Should there be any who fail to understand this properly and investigations become necessary, it would first be most regrettable and inappropriate. Therefore, keep this matter thoroughly in mind and continue to pay attention to military preparedness in the future. Also, regarding the townspeople and villagers, notifications will be issued as stated in the separate document, so retainers must carefully instruct their servants in accordance with these guidelines without negligence.
Furthermore, the three samurai named Ikeda residing in Osato should also be informed without fail, and they should be told to communicate this to those under their supervision. Since this matter will not be made into a general proclamation, each person should call together two or three people in various islands and add earnest speeches so that none will misunderstand. This should be communicated by the inspectors (metsuke).
