田植（たうゑ）
五月六日は御田植（おたうゑ）
の神事（しんし）にて武蔵（むさしの）
国（くに）の人民（しんみん）早苗（さなへ）を
携（たつさ）へ来（きた）りて神田（しんてん）に
是（これ）を挿（はさ）めり郷童（きやうとう）
白鷺（しらさき）の形（かた）の造（つく）り
物（もの）ある盖鉾（かさほこ）をさゝ
けてせんはいこうしの
傘（からかさ）と唄（うた）ひ舞（まへ）は又（また）
さすものはこれもの
と唄（うた）ひて今（いま）植並（うゑなら）

田植え（たうえ）
五月六日は御田植え（おたうえ）
の神事（しんじ）で、武蔵
国の人民が早苗（さなえ）を
携えて来て、神田に
これを挿す。郷の童子が
白鷺（しらさぎ）の形を模した造り
物がある蓋鉾（かさほこ）を捧げ
持って「せんはいこうしの
傘（からかさ）」と歌い、舞いはまた
「さすものはこれもの」
と歌って、今植え並べ

た田の中に下り立って
早苗を踏み、泥にまみれて
踊り舞うため、
かつて似たような泥の
中に沈み這えていたが、一夜
のうちに芽を出して何度も起き
立って、葉の先に露を結び、
何ともいえず美しいことは
限りがない

Rokusho Shrine (Rokusho no Miya)
Rice Planting
On the sixth day of the fifth month, the sacred rice planting
ritual takes place. The people of Musashi
Province come carrying rice seedlings
to plant them in the sacred rice fields.
Village children hold up
ceremonial spears with umbrellas decorated with
white heron figures, singing
"senhaikoshi no
umbrella," and in their dance they also
sing "sasu mono wa kore mono"
as they plant the seedlings in rows.

They descend into the rice paddies
and trample the seedlings, covered in mud,
dancing and performing. Therefore,
like those that once lay buried
in similar mud, in a single night
they sprout and repeatedly rise up,
forming dewdrops on their leaf tips—
how infinitely beautiful this is.
