毎年毎年同じような化け物の本ばかりで、同じように面白くなくなってしまった。見越し入道の親玉も、大変つまらないものになってしまった。そこで今年は古狐が思いついて、見越し入道を一番締め上げてみようと相談する。
「これ、古狸よ、お前はどう思うか。見越し入道めが化け物の頭のように振る舞いたがるが、いつでも首を振るばかりで、あの程度のことは人間にもろくに人を驚かせる病気で食いっぱぐれが出るのはある。また俺は何にでもお望み通りに化けることができるから、化け物というのはこの方の得意なことさ。」
「なるほど、そうですな。何と一味党を作り上げて、一つ締め上げてみようではありませんか。」

Every year, the same kinds of monster books appear, and they've all become equally boring. Even the boss of the Mikoshi-nyūdō has become quite a tedious creature. So this year, an old fox came up with an idea to give the Mikoshi-nyūdō the ultimate squeeze, and they're having a discussion about it.
"Listen here, old tanuki, what do you think? That Mikoshi-nyūdō fellow wants to act like the head of all monsters, but all he ever does is bob his head around. Even humans can do that much - it's just a sickness that makes people lose their livelihood by failing to properly frighten anyone. Now I, on the other hand, can transform into anything as desired, so shapeshifting is truly my specialty."
"Indeed, that's quite right. How about we form a conspiracy and give him a proper squeeze?"
