天保六年乙未年
正月小
元日辛酉 小雹が降る。佳節にて四海静謐、珍重である。○御家門の年始の御祝いは例年通り。○若御所への御参賀は例の通り。経寛が年始に参社させた。
二日壬戌 小雪。院中への御参賀は例の通り。○経千の年始参社の次第は通常通り、氏神社が初めてである。○社頭当番は経寛に代勤させた。
五日乙丑 晴れ。五男季若三歳。今日所司代経威が入来したので、先規の通り番頭を付けた。○御殿の御領村役人共の総礼参上は例の通り、御祝酒を下された。
六日丙寅 晴れ。経紀・経啓の年始、氏神社初参社の次第は通常通りである。
七日丁卯 時節分である。家内の祝義は例の通り。
八日戊辰 晴れ。在所中の年始回礼を済ませた。
十一日辛未 晴れ。塗師方は例の通り出役した。

Tenpō 6, Year of the Wood Sheep
First Month (29 days)
1st Day, Kanoto-Tori: Small hail fell. It is an auspicious festival day with the four seas at peace, truly precious. ○ New Year celebrations for the noble family were as usual. ○ Ceremonial New Year visit to the Young Imperial Palace as customary. Kyōkan was made to visit the shrine for New Year's.
2nd Day, Mizunoe-Inu: Light snow. Ceremonial New Year visit to the imperial court as usual. ○ Kyōsen's New Year shrine visit proceeded as normal, this being the first visit to the clan deity shrine. ○ The shrine duty rotation had Kyōkan serve as substitute.
5th Day, Kinoto-Ushi: Clear. Fifth son Suewaka, age three. Today the city magistrate Kyōi came to visit, so a group leader was assigned according to precedent. ○ The collective ceremonial visit of village officials from the palace domain proceeded as usual, and celebratory sake was bestowed upon them.
6th Day, Hinoe-Tora: Clear. Kyōki and Kyōkei's New Year first visit to the clan deity shrine proceeded as normal.
7th Day, Hinoto-U: This is the seasonal turning point. Family celebrations were as usual.
8th Day, Tsuchinoe-Tatsu: Clear. Completed New Year return visits throughout the local area.
11th Day, Kanoto-Hitsuji: Clear. The lacquer craftsmen performed their duties as usual.
