clergy and the prefects of the temples go thither
to pay their homage.
From thence they go to the house of every one who inscribed
on the body of their temple.
The seventh they pay their compliments
with the Nanakoesa【七草】/bid: the chronology/
They are everywhere invited to
entertain'ments given as usual to rega■
the friends and relations.
The twentith【twentieth】comes the festival of the
God Ibis【えびす】, particularly with the merchants
with whom he is in high favor: where-ever you
go then you are entertain'd.
On account of that you must wear at your
side two eating sticks, and visit your friends
to amuse yourself.
The women however can not go themselves

85 はい、はい。毎年すべての家を様々な飾り物で飾り立て、役職に就く者は皆、新年の最初の朝に総督のところへ挨拶に行くのが慣例です。
その後、友人や親戚の家々を回ります。
4日目には、高位と下位の僧侶たち、そして寺院の住職たちがそこへ敬意を表しに行きます。
そこから彼らは寺の檀家となっている人々の家を一軒一軒回ります。
7日目には七草と共に挨拶をします。
彼らはどこでも、友人や親戚をもてなすためにいつものように催される宴会に招かれます。
