On the night of the 17th, around half past the fifth hour, my master Hanko told me that Ikukata Keiichiro-dono would be returning home accompanied by his son, so I carried a lantern to escort them and led the way out of the gate. After walking about three ken down the street, I heard a noise behind me and turned around to see someone unknown attacking Keiichiro-dono with a sword. Shocked and panicked, I fled as far as the Ryogoku area and remained there for a while before returning. There is nothing else to report. The above. Statement by Toyozo, retainer of the same household On the night of the 17th, around the fifth hour, Kaneko Kenshiro-dono returned from my master's place. Some time later, someone claiming to be Kenshiro-dono's retainer came to the gate and said, "I just went to Ikukata's place, but Keiichiro had not yet returned home. Is he still here?" Since I was aware of the earlier dispute, I answered that he had already left. Soon after, around half past the fifth hour, Keiichiro-dono was ready to return home accompanied by his son. I followed behind to escort them. Keiichiro-dono exited the gate, followed by his son. I was still inside the gate and had come to the small side gate when I heard what sounded like Keiichiro-dono being struck outside the gate. There seemed to be blood flowing in that area, and Keiichiro-dono's son cried out that his father had also been cut. I was shocked and panicked, closed the side gate, and reported to my master. At that moment, there were some voices outside the gate...
