《六日 庚申》朝よりくもり、終日曇り空なり。夕方より快晴、夜中は至極晴れ
安政三年辰八月二十五日夜六つ時頃より南大嵐吹き出し、そのはげしきこと筆に余り、家を潰し、屋根を吹き立て、川筋に波を打ち上げ、船はことごとく破れ、目も当てられぬ次第なり。この時雷鳴り渡り、地震、出火もこれあり、珍事の次第、あらましを書き記しぬ。
日本橋南は通町筋、格別のことなく、中橋、京橋同じく、芝口辺り少々の痛み。芝山内は大木を根より引き抜け、又は打ち折れ、御堂も少々ずつ痛み。芝片門前より出火いたし、半丁ばかり焼く。大門通り少々、神明御社通り、門前町、神明町、裏通り残らず、三島町、両替町、浜松町一丁目片側、宇田川町少々にて焼き留まる。金杉、本芝海辺は大方破れ、御屋敷様海岸通り

《5th day, morning 60 degrees》Fine weather from morning, cloudy after the hour of the Snake (10 AM), occasional rain after the hour of the Horse (12 PM), immediately stopped.
《6th day, Kōshin》Cloudy from morning, overcast all day. Fine weather from evening, extremely clear during the night.
On the night of August 25th, 3rd year of Ansei, Year of the Dragon, around the hour of Rooster (6 PM), a great southern storm began to blow. Its violence was beyond description - it destroyed houses, blew off roofs, raised waves along the rivers, completely destroyed ships, creating a scene too terrible to behold. At this time thunder rumbled, and there were also earthquakes and fires - extraordinary events whose general outline I record here.
South of Nihonbashi along Tōri-machi street, there was nothing particularly [noteworthy]. Nakabashi and Kyōbashi were the same, with slight damage around Shibaguchi. In the Shiba temple grounds, large trees were uprooted or broken, and the halls also suffered some damage. A fire broke out in front of Shiba Katamon gate and burned about half a chō. Daimon street [suffered] slightly, Shinmei Shrine street, Monzen-machi, Shinmei-machi, all the back streets, Mishima-machi, Ryōgae-machi, one side of Hamamatsu-machi first district, and a little of Udagawa-machi before the fire was contained. Kanasugi and Honshiba waterfront were mostly destroyed, and the daimyo estate along the coast road [was damaged].
