朝比奈泰秀（あさひなやすひで）と名乗（なのり） 一番鎗（いちばんやり）を
入（い）れ 双方（さうほう） 未（いまだ） 勝負（せうはい）を別（わか）たず 于時（ときに） 織田（をた） 方（がた）より
七 勇士（ゆうし） 突出（とつしゆつ）して 功名（こうめう）を顕（あら）わす

現代語訳
天文十一年（1542年）八月十日、三河国小豆坂において織田信秀と今川義元が合戦を行った。今川方より朝比奈泰秀と名乗る武将が一番槍を入れたが、双方とも未だ勝負がつかなかった。その時、織田方より七人の勇士が突出して功名を現した。これを小豆坂七本槍という。

On the 10th day of the 8th month of Tenbun 11 (1542), Oda Nobuhide and Imagawa Yoshimoto fought a battle at Azukizaka in Mikawa Province. From the Imagawa side, a warrior named Asahina Yasuhide made the first spear attack, but neither side had yet determined victory or defeat. At that time, seven brave warriors from the Oda side rushed forward and distinguished themselves with their military prowess. This is called the "Seven Spears of Azukizaka."
