現代語訳
近習へと配属され、精を出して勤務すべきであるとのお取り立てを賜り、将来有望であるとして、田中三郎兵衛を通じて仰せ渡され、御小性の勤めを免ぜられた。
そして土津様の御前へ四人一同に召し出され、「若者であるから、鳳翔院様へよく奉公するように。詳細は三郎兵衛が申し渡す通りである」との由、直接に有り難くも御意を蒙った。
ただし、この年から池上庄左衛門と半年交代で仰せ付けられ、同年五月に（江戸から）下った。

英語訳
He was assigned to close attendant duties and was promoted with instructions to serve diligently, being deemed promising for the future. Through Tanaka Sarobyōe, he was informed that his duties as page (okoshō) were concluded.
Then, all four of them were summoned before Lord Doshu, who directly bestowed upon them the gracious words: "Since you are young men, serve Lord Hōshōin well. The details are as Sarobyōe will convey to you."
From this year onward, he was assigned to alternate every six months with Ikegami Shōzaemon, and he returned (from Edo) in the fifth month of the same year.
First year, fifth month: He was granted an additional stipend of four ryō of gold.
Same year, eighth month: He went up to Edo for duty rotation and returned in the second month of the following year of the Boar.
Second year of the Boar, third month: He was granted an additional stipend of one ryō of gold.
Same year, eighth month: He went up to Edo for duty rotation.
Third year of the Rat, first month: He was ordered to undergo the coming-of-age ceremony (genpuku).
