現代語訳

【右丁】
蘿摩（らま）
蘿摩は鏡草とも呼ばれ、つる性の植物である。6、7月に鈴のような形で淡い紫色の小さな花を咲かせる。百合に似ているが星模様はなく、5枚の花弁で雌しべがある。草の立ち方や葉も屁糞葛（へくそかずら）のようである。この草は折って見ると乳汁が出る。また屁糞葛は乳汁が出ない。花が開き、晩秋に実を結ぶ。紙麻の殻に似ている。初冬になると自然に割れて白い綿毛が出る。その殻は小舟のようで、長いものは大きくて2、3寸ほど、小さいものは1寸余りである。これは神書にいうところの少彦名神（すくなひこなのかみ）が蘿摩の殻を舟としたというもので、少名彦神を描く際に用いるべきものである。

玉簪花（ぎょくさんか）・擬宝珠（ぎぼうし）・白鶴仙
4月に花が咲く。数が多い。葉の縁に白い斑があり、「縁空擬宝珠」という。葉に斑入りがあるものを「文鳥擬宝珠」という。金蘭がある。葉は普通の擬宝珠と変わらず、花は雪のように白く、茎が立ち上がって簪（かんざし）のようで、極めて美しい。一種で葉が極めて細長く艶があるものもあり、花は金蘭と同じ。花の色は白もあり、藤色もある。大擬宝珠は高さ4尺ほど、小擬宝珠は土地によっていろいろあり、山草である。

玉簪花は別名白萼といい、よく魚の骨を溶かす。牙につけてはいけない。牙につけると牙が割れ砕ける。紫と黄の二色がある。紫のものが多く、黄色のものが良い。種はそれほど多くない。

美容柳（びようやなぎ）
柳に似ている。花は黄色で花弁が5つ、芙蓉のようである。雄しべは短く、長春（迎春花）に似ている。葉は十切草に似て葉が向かい合い、両方を茎と葉で取り囲む。高さ3、4尺ほど、横に這う。4、5月に花が咲く。

麒麟草・景天
葉は弁慶草のように小さな葉で、葉の縁に切れ込みがある。花の色は黄色で一か所にまとまって咲く。草の茎は太い。花も弁慶草のようで、5月に花がある。葉は三方につく。

翁草・白頭翁
葉の芽出しは雪のように白く、日を重ねるにつれて次第に青くなる。また虎斑があり、正月髭のようで、5月に花がある。葉は三方につく。

釣船草（8、9月に花がある）
葉は野菊の葉に似て切れ込みが浅く、葉は薄い。茎は節立ちして、葉の裏から1寸ほどの細い糸が下がり、花を釣ることが釣船のようである。花の形は鳥兜を横にしたようで、色は本金黄色で極めて変わっている。また紫の花もあり、白もある。

松虫草
葉は蓬のようで茎は太く、花は薄藤色の丸い花が咲く。また板野菊とも言う。別名玉球花。7、8月から9月まで花がある。

Vincetoxicum (Rough potato)
Vincetoxicum is also called mirror grass and is a climbing plant. In June and July, it produces small pale purple flowers shaped like bells. They resemble lilies but have no star patterns, with five petals and pistils. The plant's growth habit and leaves are similar to those of Paederia scandens (skunk vine). When this plant is broken, milky sap comes out. Paederia scandens, however, does not produce milky sap. The flowers bloom and form fruits in late autumn, resembling paper mulberry husks. In early winter, they naturally split open and white cotton-like fibers emerge. The husks are like small boats - the large ones are about 2-3 sun long, while the small ones are just over 1 sun. This corresponds to what is mentioned in sacred texts about the deity Sukunahikona-no-kami using vincetoxicum husks as boats, and should be used when depicting this minor deity.

Hosta (Plantain lily) / White Crane Immortal
Flowers bloom in April. There are many varieties. Those with white markings on leaf edges are called "edge-variegated hosta." Those with variegated leaves are called "variegated hosta." There is a golden variety. The leaves are the same as ordinary hostas, but the flowers are snow-white, with upright stems like hairpins, extremely beautiful. One variety has extremely narrow, long, glossy leaves, with flowers similar to the golden variety. Flower colors include white and purple. Large hostas grow about 4 feet tall, while small hostas vary by location and are mountain plants.

Hosta, also called white calyx, effectively dissolves fish bones. It should not be applied to teeth, as it will crack and shatter them. It comes in purple and yellow varieties. Purple ones are common, yellow ones are superior. Seeds are not very abundant.

Hypericum (St. John's wort)
Resembles willow. Flowers are yellow with five petals like hibiscus. Stamens are short, similar to winter jasmine. Leaves resemble those of Hypericum erectum, growing in opposite pairs, with stem and leaves embracing on both sides. Height about 3-4 feet, spreading horizontally. Flowers bloom in April and May.

Sedum (Stonecrop) /景天
Leaves are like those of Hylotelephium erythrostictum but smaller, with serrated edges. Yellow flowers bloom clustered together in one location. The plant stem is thick. Flowers are also like Hylotelephium, blooming in May. Leaves grow in three directions.

Pulsatilla (Pasque flower) / White-headed elder
New leaf shoots emerge snow-white, gradually turning green over time. Also has tiger stripes like New Year decorative whiskers, with flowers in May. Leaves grow in three directions.

Impatiens (Touch-me-not) (flowers in August-September)
Leaves resemble wild chrysanthemum leaves with shallow serrations, and thin leaves. Stems are jointed, with thin threads about 1 sun long hanging from the undersides of leaves, suspending flowers like fishing boats. Flower shape is like a monkshood turned sideways, colored bright golden yellow, extremely distinctive. There are also purple flowers and white ones.

Scabiosa (Pincushion flower)
Leaves are like mugwort, stems are thick, with round pale purple flowers. Also called "board chrysanthemum." Alternative name is "jade ball flower." Flowers bloom from July-August through September.
