私共旅宿之儀も震并小者両人無難ニ而立退伝馬御証文之儀持退候ニ付
別条無御座候誠ニ古今稀成大地震ニ而田畑共割中ニハ夥敷水吹出シ候
場所等も在之塩崎村御普請之儀堤石積等ハ荒方崩千曲川
之儀は常水ゟ弐尺増水仕候へ共此上異変無御座候ハヽ格別之出
水も有之間敷と奉存候右は塩崎村ニ不限近郷都而潰家
怪我人等も多分有之躰ニ而大地震之節四方遠近一円出火ニ而
中ニハ稲荷山宿并善光寺町之儀は今朝迄焼相見へ候へとも
昨夜ゟ只今ニ至迄昼夜何十度となく鳴震壁も落候様
震動致シ且佐井川之儀川上ニ而山崩致候趣ニ而大地震之後
今ニ至ル迄少シも通水無之ニ付一両日之内ニは何方へか大出水
可在之迚同川附ハ勿論継場之者共追々逃去候趣ニ御座候右
異変ニ付此段御届申上候以上

私どもの旅宿の件についても地震および小者両人とも無事に立ち退き、伝馬の証文の件も持ち帰ったので
別に問題はございません。誠に古今稀なる大地震で、田畑も割れ、その中には大量の水が吹き出している
場所等もございます。塩崎村の普請の件については、堤の石積等はおおむね崩れ、千曲川
については平常の水位より二尺増水いたしましたが、この上異変がなければ格別な出水
もないものと存じます。これは塩崎村に限らず、近郷すべてにおいて潰れた家、
怪我人等も多数ある様子で、大地震の際、四方遠近一面火事となり、
その中でも稲荷山宿および善光寺町については今朝まで燃えているように見えましたが、
昨夜から只今に至るまで昼夜何十度となく鳴り響く地震で、壁も落ちるような
震動をし、かつ犀川については川上で山崩れした様子で、大地震の後
今に至るまで少しも水が流れていないため、一両日のうちには何処かへ大出水が
あるだろうということで、同川沿いはもちろん継ぎ場の者どもも次々と逃げ去る様子でございます。この
異変につき、この段お届け申し上げます。以上

Regarding our lodging arrangements, both the earthquake and our two attendants caused no harm as we evacuated safely, and we were able to take back the post-horse certificates, so
there are no particular problems. This was truly an unprecedented great earthquake, and the rice fields and farmland cracked open, with some places where
large amounts of water gushed out. Regarding the construction work at Shiozaki Village, the stone embankments and such have mostly collapsed, and the Chikuma River
has risen two shaku above normal water levels, but if there are no further disturbances, we believe there should be no exceptional
flooding. This is not limited to Shiozaki Village - throughout the neighboring areas there appear to be many collapsed houses and
injured people, and during the great earthquake, fires broke out in all directions near and far.
Among these, Inariyama post station and Zenkoji town appeared to be burning until this morning, but
from last night until now, day and night, earthquakes have rumbled dozens of times, causing tremors so severe that
walls have fallen. Moreover, regarding the Sai River, it appears that landslides occurred upstream, and since the great earthquake,
no water has flowed at all up to now. Therefore, within a day or two there will likely be major flooding
somewhere, and consequently people along that river as well as those at the relay stations are fleeing one after another. Regarding these
unusual events, we submit this report. The above.
