決てころひ倒るゝ事なし《割書：僕｜　》諸州をのぐり七拾におよび
初て見鞋也且むかしよりもかゝる蟹鞋といふものを不 聞（キカ）
此辺はすべり道にて度々転び倒れた難儀のあまり
かしこき百姓の工夫より製し初しものなるべし下《見せ消ち：氏｜民》のみに
あらず武門におゐても雨後の放鷹鹿狩抔の節は
山坂に用ひて便利ならんかむかしも戦場にてすべり転
しためしもあれは強働んと思ふ時には然るへし陣鞋に
そへて置度鞋ならずや

日光筑波およひ奥羽常陸へ往来せる江戸より
初ての駅所にて市中数千軒且在〳〵より江戸え出す
専菜《割書：八百屋ものゝことを此地｜にいてはせんさいといふ也》夥敷ことにて毎朝市をなし倡
家も数多にて繁昌の町也然れ共寺院に宜もなく

現代語訳

決して転び倒れることがない。諸国を巡ること七十に及び、初めて見る履物である。また昔からこのような蟹鞋というものを聞いたことがない。この辺りは滑りやすい道で度々転び倒れる難儀のあまり、賢い百姓の工夫によって作り始めたものであろう。庶民だけでなく、武士においても雨後の放鷹や鹿狩りなどの際は、山坂で用いて便利であろう。昔も戦場で滑り転んだ例もあるので、力を入れて働こうと思う時には適当である。陣中の履物に添えて置きたい履物ではないか。

本木村【足立区】

淵江山吉祥院、新義真言宗、御朱印五石。度々住僧が替わって由緒は知れない。当住僧は立派な出家で、きれいな境内、寺も悪くない。殊勝に思った。寺中に嘉元三年の御墓がある。

千住駅【足立区】
日光・筑波および奥羽・常陸へ往来する江戸からの最初の宿場で、市中数千軒。また在郷から江戸へ出す専菜（野菜類をこの地では専菜という）が非常に多く、毎朝市を成し、遊女屋も数多くあって繁昌の町である。しかし寺院に良いものもなく

One would never slip and fall. Having traveled through various provinces up to seventy times, this is the first time I have seen such footwear. Moreover, I have never heard of such things called "crab sandals" since ancient times. This area has slippery roads where one frequently falls down, and out of such hardship, these were probably first created through the ingenuity of clever farmers. Not only for commoners, but also for warriors, they would be convenient to use on mountain slopes during falconry or deer hunting after rain. Since there are examples of slipping and falling on battlefields in the past, they would be appropriate when one intends to work vigorously. Are they not sandals one would want to keep alongside military footwear?

Motoki Village [Adachi Ward]

Fuchie-san Kichijō-in, Shingi Shingon sect, with a vermillion seal grant of five koku of rice. The resident monks have changed repeatedly and the temple's history is unknown. The current resident monk is an excellent priest, with clean temple grounds and the temple itself is not bad. I found it admirable. Within the temple grounds there is a grave from the third year of Kagen.

Senju Station [Adachi Ward]
This is the first post station from Edo for travel to Nikkō, Tsukuba, and the Ōu and Hitachi regions, with several thousand houses in the town. Additionally, there is an enormous amount of vegetables sent from rural areas to Edo (vegetable products are called "sensai" in this area), creating a market every morning, and with many pleasure quarters, it is a prosperous town.
