【右丁】
の僧におほせ。国分寺にてはふむ
今種生と云
りさせたまひ。《振り仮名：田井の庄｜ 今種生ト云 》に墓を
つき同月二十八日《割書：二七日》権僧都の
位を贈らせたまひけり。《割書：崇光院｜御在位》これ
ひとへに徳の至れるゆへにやあらん。

【右丁】
の僧に命じて、国分寺にて葬儀を執り行わせになされ、田井の庄（今は種生と云う）に墓を築き、同月二十八日（二十七日とも）に権僧都の位を贈らせになられた。（崇光院の御在位の時のことである。）これはひとえに（兼好の）徳の至れるゆえにこそあろう。まことに有り難き先例であることよ。

...ordering the monks (of that temple), a funeral was conducted at Kokubunji Temple, a grave was built in the estate of Tai no Shō (now called Taneshō), and on the twenty-eighth day of the same month (also recorded as the twenty-seventh day), the posthumous rank of Provisional Senior Buddhist Prelate (*Gon-sōzu*) was conferred upon him. (This was during the reign of Emperor Sukō.) This was surely owing entirely to the profound virtue (Kenkō) had attained. Truly, it is a rare and precious precedent to behold.
