本豊橋市ハ結核患者逐年増加ノ趨勢ニ鑑ミ療養所設置ノ實ニ緊要ナルヲ認メ昭和九年二月八萬四千圓ヲ以テ建設スヘク市會ノ
協賛ヲ經ルニ至レリ之レカ資源トシテ國庫補助金四萬弐千圓市債参萬参千圓其他一般歳入ヲ以テ充當シ其外委託患者収容ノ故
ヲ以テ愛知縣ヨリ助成金壹萬七千圓ノ交付ヲ受ク
昭和九年七月十三日内務大臣ヨリ設置命令アリ續テ仝年九月二十六日内務大臣ノ建設認可ヲ得ルニ至レリ而シテ其位置撰定ニ
當リテハ慎重實地ヲ考覈シ好適地タル現在ノ位置ヲ決定セリ昭和十年一月着工仝年十月竣工ス則チ仝年十二月一日開院ノ運ヒ

落モ亦遠ク距離ス之レ蓋シ醫學上眞ニ理想的條件ヲ具備スル絶好ノ位置ヲ占ムル結核療養所ナリト信ス
茲ニ開院以来三星霜ヲ閲スルニ逐年入院患者志望ノ數増加シ六拾名ノ定員ヲ超過スルコト屡々アリ此ノ秋ニ當リ愈々施設ノ改
善ニ努メ以テ本院設立ノ趣旨貫徹ニ邁進センコトヲ期ス

本豊橋市は結核患者が年々増加する傾向にあることを鑑み、療養所設置が実に緊要であることを認め、昭和9年2月、8万4千円をもって建設すべく市会の賛成を得るに至った。その財源として国庫補助金4万2千円、市債3万3千円、その他一般歳入をもって充当し、その外、委託患者収容のために愛知県より助成金1万7千円の交付を受けた。
昭和9年7月13日、内務大臣より設置命令があり、続いて同年9月26日、内務大臣の建設認可を得るに至った。そして、その位置選定にあたっては慎重に実地を調査し、好適地である現在の位置を決定した。昭和10年1月着工、同年10月竣工し、同年12月1日開院の運びとなった。
そもそも本療養所の位置は本市の東方郊外の丘陵地にあり、元来「高山御料地」と称する地帯である。緑の山々が連なり、四季頗る自然の景観に富み、空気清澄で、加えて山麓の南面に建設し、風速が極めて緩やかなのみならず、陽光を浴するのに最も便利であり、しかも工場・汚沼等の不潔なものは全くなく、部落も遠く離れている。これはまさに医学上、真に理想的条件を備えた絶好の位置を占める結核療養所であると信じる。
ここに開院以来3年を経るに、年々入院患者志望の数が増加し、60名の定員を超過することがしばしばある。この時にあたり、いよいよ施設の改善に努め、本院設立の趣旨貫徹に邁進することを期す。

1. History
The city of Toyohashi, recognizing the yearly increasing trend of tuberculosis patients and the urgent necessity of establishing a sanatorium, obtained approval from the city council in February 1934 to construct it with a budget of 84,000 yen. The funding sources included a national subsidy of 42,000 yen, municipal bonds of 33,000 yen, and other general revenues. Additionally, for housing entrusted patients, the city received an assistance grant of 17,000 yen from Aichi Prefecture.
On July 13, 1934, an establishment order was issued by the Minister of Home Affairs, followed by construction approval from the Minister of Home Affairs on September 26 of the same year. In selecting the location, careful on-site investigations were conducted, and the current suitable location was determined. Construction began in January 1935, was completed in October of the same year, and the hospital opened on December 1, 1935.
The location of this sanatorium is situated on hills in the eastern suburbs of the city, in an area originally called "Takayama Imperial Estate." With verdant mountains stretching in succession, rich natural scenery throughout the four seasons, and clean air, it was built on the south-facing slope of the foothills, where wind speeds are extremely mild and it is most convenient for receiving sunlight. Moreover, there are no unsanitary elements such as factories or polluted marshlands, and villages are also at a considerable distance. We believe this tuberculosis sanatorium occupies an excellent location with truly ideal conditions from a medical standpoint.
Three years have passed since the opening, and the number of patients seeking admission has increased yearly, frequently exceeding the capacity of 60 patients. At this time, we are determined to work even harder on facility improvements and strive to fulfill the founding purpose of this hospital.
