○世の子たる者は楊香のように、父母のためには命を捨てようとするのが当然であるのに、命のことはさておいて、手足を惜しみ骨を惜しんで我が身を大事とする。しかしながら、本当に我が身を大事にしているかと思えば、つまらない酒色や名誉・利益のためには手足も惜しまず、軽率に身命も投げ出すのではないか。これはいったいどのような間違いであろうか。よくよく考えてみなさい。この間違いが分からなければ、身を立てることはできない。良い人について道を学んで、父母の心を安んじなさい。

悪い友を友とすれば、我知らずして自然と悪い心に移っていくものですから、ひとえに善友を選んで友とするべきです。

Yet, setting aside the matter of life itself, they begrudge their hands and feet and spare their bones, treating their own bodies as precious. However, if we consider whether they truly treat their own bodies as precious, do they not spare neither hands nor feet for worthless wine, lust, fame, and profit, acting carelessly and throwing away their very lives? What kind of error is this? You should think about this very carefully. If you cannot understand this error, you will not be able to establish yourself properly. Learn the Way from good people and put your parents' hearts at ease.
