正直爺は
慳貪婆に
雀は

これ舌を切られた
雀が
かえって
善心に勧めるという自然の道理であるといって
心を改めさせたので、婆は
下女となって真面目に勤め、娘は
婿を取って繁盛し
めでたい春を
迎えた、めでたい（繰り返し）

As is customary,
Most auspiciously (repeated)
The honest old man
[regarding] the greedy old woman
The sparrow
[Several lines damaged and unreadable]
This tongue-cut
sparrow
instead
Said that it was the natural principle for [even a wronged sparrow] to encourage good-heartedness,
and thus made her reform her heart. Therefore, the old woman
became a maidservant and served diligently, the daughter
took a husband and prospered,
welcoming an auspicious spring—
how auspicious! (repeated)
