御とし廿二六ゐは廿三をしかるへきよはひなり
はなのたもとをひきかへこきすみそめに身をやつ
しをこなひすまし給ひけりさるほとにゆふへう
すやうにつゝみて給はりつる物をけさひめきみに
参らせけるをひろけてみ給へはみとりのたふさ
なりけりよのほとの事なれはらんしやのにほひく
んしてうたをそかゝれける
かすならぬうき身のとりをおもはすは
ちきりしことをとゝなひてまし
きみゆへに身はいたつらになりぬとも
あはれをたにもおもひをこせし
現代語訳
お年は二十二、六位は二十三になるべき齢である。
花の袂を引き替え、濃い墨染めに身をやつし、
修行を済まし給うていた。そうするうちに、夕べ
薄様に包んで給わったものを、今朝姫君に
差し上げたところ、広げて見給うと、緑の房
であった。世の常のことなので、蘭奢待の香りを薫じて、歌が書かれていた。
数ならぬ憂き身の鳥を思わずば
契りし事を訪ねてまし
君ゆえに身は徒らになりぬとも
哀れをだにも思い起こせよ
