【Right folio】 *Another variety* In tree, leaf, flower, and fruit it resembles the preceding entry, but the flowers are yellow. 【Left folio】 *Another variety* ***Hakone-utsugi*** ***Jūshimai*** *(interlinear note: Sansai Zue)* ***Kindaika*** *(interlinear note: same source)* ***Hinkyō*** *(interlinear note: cited in Tankō Sōroku from Seito Kokon-ki)* ***Kaisen-ka*** *(interlinear note: Minsui Endan-roku)* ***Nichigetsu-ka*** *(interlinear note: Chūzan Shitsumon)* The tree reaches a height of six to seven *shaku* (approximately 180–210 cm). In spring, young shoots emerge from the old stems. The shape of the leaves resembles that of *tani-utsugi* but is larger and thicker, with serrated edges around the margins. From early summer, flowers appear among the leaves — notably, six or seven flowers grow on one side; combining both sides, the number reaches fourteen or fifteen flowers. The shape of each individual flower resembles that of *tani-utsugi* but has a shorter tube and is larger overall. When the flowers first open, they are white; the following day, they become pale pinkish-red. As the days pass, they deepen to red. When a single tree is in full bloom, the several hundred red and white flowers are intermingled together, and the sight is exceedingly beautiful.
