私の在所である信州松代では、一昨日二十四日の亥の刻から大地震があり、城内の住居や櫓、囲いの塀などが数多く破損し、家中の屋敷や城下町、領内の村々、その他支配地において倒壊した家屋が数多くあり、死者・行方不明者も非常に多く出ました。特に村方では出火があり、その上山間部では山抜けや山崩れが発生し、犀川が押し埋められて水が溜まり、次第に満水状態となって流水が全く無くなりました。北国街道の丹波島の渡し場も干上がってしまいました。この度の溢れ水の押し出し方によっては、どのような地変が起こるか計り知れないと存じます。また、その後も時々地震が続いております。詳細については追って報告いたしますが、まずはこの件をご報告申し上げます。以上

Great Earthquake in Shinshū Province on the 24th day of the 3rd month of Kōka 4, year of the Sheep
In my domain of Matsushiro in Shinshū Province, a great earthquake occurred from the hour of the Boar on the 24th day before yesterday. Within the castle, residential buildings, watchtowers, and surrounding walls suffered extensive damage. Throughout the retainers' residences, castle town, villages within the domain, and other territories under our jurisdiction, numerous houses collapsed and there were very many deaths and missing persons. Particularly in the village areas, fires broke out. Moreover, in the mountainous regions, there were landslides and mountain collapses, and the Sai River became blocked and filled with water, gradually reaching full capacity with no water flow whatsoever. The ferry crossing at Tanbajima on the Hokurikudō highway has also dried up completely. Depending on how these flood waters burst forth, it is impossible to predict what kind of geological changes may occur. Furthermore, earthquakes continue to occur from time to time since then.
