五このよで 三十 ろくかむら
いちどに はなうの くるしみで
むごい ものだよ ばんだいの

会津磐梯山大崩落の話
【上段】
広い日本でも名高い
一、会津磐梯山の大騒ぎ
聞くも語るも恐ろしや
麓は五ヶ村、その他に
二、六里四方の騒ぎにて
即死の数々数知れず
見るも恐ろしこの騒ぎ
三、磐梯山は真っ二つに吹き破れ
下より火煙が燃え上がる
世にも地獄はあるものよ
四、これが噴火は地獄かと
苦しむ人の世の有り様は
いかに地獄があればとて
五、この世で三十六ヶ村
一度に噴火の苦しみで
無情なものだよ磐梯の
六、当時の人々大底に
可哀想にその数百五十人
奈落の底とはこのことよ
七、妻や子供のある身でも
死に目も会わずてこの世の別れ
山は崩れて野となる
八、野は埋まりて山となる
石は砕けて砂利となる
古今稀な大騒ぎ
九、石は天より降り下る
下より炎が燃え上がる
轟く大地は百八つの
十、雷様のようにて
生きた心地の人はなし

桧原・大川・小川まで
十一、水路は塞がり田畑も
貯水池・堤もみな潰れ
にわかの騒ぎのことなれば
十二、親子散り散り逃げ出だす
命あっての物語
さんざん崩れしその頃は
十三、七月中旬の十五日
午前八時も過ぎし頃
四方八方黒煙
十四、鳥獣類まで皆殺し
身の毛もよだつばかりなり
五体も縮まる恐ろしさ
十五、妻子に別るる悲しさに
親子別るる哀れさよ
六十四州は広くとも
十六、磐梯山の大騒ぎ
見るも哀れの限りなし
しかし一つの不思議あり
十七、桧原村にて一人者
年は八十のお婆さん
春の頃より一匹の
十八、猪を大事に飼えば
この猪恩を送らんと
首をかしげてこの猪は
十九、物は言わねど目で知らす
袖を咥えて連れて行く
にわかの大難間逃れて
二十、嬉しやぶじとお婆さん

Hell truly exists in this world
4. This eruption, is it hell?
The state of people's suffering
However hellish it may be
5. In this world, thirty-six villages
All at once in the agony of eruption
Cruel thing, this Bandai
6. The people of that time, most
Pitifully, their number was 150
The bottom of hell is this very thing
7. Even those with wives and children
Parted from this world without seeing their death
Mountains collapse to become fields
8. Fields are buried to become mountains
Stones shatter to become gravel
A great commotion rare in history

Reservoirs and embankments all destroyed
Being a sudden commotion

A tale of survival
When it collapsed terribly
13. On the 15th of mid-July
Past eight o'clock in the morning
Black smoke in all directions
14. Even birds and beasts all killed
Enough to make one's hair stand on end
Terror that makes the body shrink
15. The sadness of parting from wife and children
The pathos of parent and child separation
Though the sixty-four provinces are vast
16. The great commotion of Mount Bandai
Limitlessly pitiful to see
But there is one strange thing
17. In Hibara village, a single person
An eighty-year-old grandmother
From spring, raising
18. One wild boar with great care
This boar wished to repay the kindness
Tilting its head, this boar
19. Though it cannot speak, shows with its eyes
Takes her sleeve in its mouth and leads her away
Escaping the sudden great disaster
20. How joyful, safe and sound, grandmother
Could such turmoil exist in this world?
