壺ノ石フミ
名ニヲフ壺（ツホ）ノ石ブミハ奥州（ヲウシウ）仙台（センタイ）ノ東北 多賀城（タカシヤウ）
ノ古跡（コセキ）ニアリ即（スナハチ）仙台（センタイ）ヨリ松島（マツシマ）ニ至（イタ）ルノ道筋（ミチスヂ）ニ
シテ街道（カイドウ）ヨリ纔（ハツル）ニ二丁四十間入リ込（コム）所ナリ南（ナン）
都（ト）ノ墨屋（スミヤ）松井 某（ソレ）享保（キヤウホウ）中ニ道ジルシノ石ヲ立￣テ

壺の碑について
名高い壺の碑は奥州仙台の東北、多賀城の古跡にある。すなわち仙台から松島に至る道筋にあって、街道からわずかに二町四十間入り込んだ所である。南都の墨屋松井某が享保年間に道しるべの石を立てたので、非常に分かりやすくなっている。昔、蝦夷が朝廷の支配に服するようになったが、奥州も大半はその種族の住む土地であって、なおその上にも度々襲撃してきた頃、京都から将軍を派遣されてこれを鎮圧された。

On the Tsubo no Ishibumi (Stone Monument of Tsubo)
The famous Tsubo no Ishibumi is located at the ancient site of Tagajō, northeast of Sendai in Ōshū. It stands along the road from Sendai to Matsushima, just two chō and forty ken off the main highway. A certain Matsui from the ink shop in Nanto erected a stone marker during the Kyōhō era, making it very easy to find. In ancient times, when the Ezo submitted to imperial rule, most of Ōshū was inhabited by people of that lineage, and during the period when they still frequently launched attacks, generals were dispatched from Kyoto to pacify them.
