掛所営建の志願ありて 御国の御免許を得元禄三年七月よ
り袋町泉龍寺を懸所となせり同年十二月古渡村の内にて
境地御寄付ありて懸所を今の所へ引うつし同五年の夏頃より 坊
舎を営みはじむ同十三年四月十二日一如上人京都本山にて遷化せられ
其子真如大僧正の代同十五年十月廿八日経営成就し本堂をはじめ
諸堂こと〳〵く修造畢りしかども真如上人の開基とせすして本願

千代まても猶たちなれ【注】と花の陰としのつもらんこともわすれて 石原正明
古渡古城《割書：東掛所境内則其あと也織田備後守信秀那古野の城にありしが天文三年嫡男信｜長誕生のゝち那古野の城は信長に譲り自身は古渡に城を築きて移住せり卒》

掛所建設の志願があって、御国の御許可を得て元禄三年七月より袋町の泉龍寺を掛所とした。同年十二月に古渡村の内で境内地の御寄付があって、掛所を今の場所へ引き移し、同五年の夏頃より坊舎を営み始めた。同十三年四月十二日に一如上人が京都本山で遷化（逝去）され、その子の真如大僧正の代の同十五年十月二十八日に経営が成就し、本堂をはじめ諸堂がことごとく修造完了したが、真如上人を開基とはせずに本願の一如上人を開山とした。○本尊：阿弥陀如来

古渡古城：東掛所境内がそのまさにその跡である。織田備後守信秀は那古野の城にいたが、天文三年に嫡男信長誕生の後、那古野の城は信長に譲り、自身は古渡に城を築いて移住した。信秀が逝去した後、廃城して田畑となったが、その後掛所の境内となった。信長記には信長公がここで元服されたと記されており、宗牧の東国紀行には禁裏御修理の件を宗牧が東国へ下る際に、宗牧に仰せ付けられて、ここの城主信秀に勅宣を伝えたと記されている。これは戦国の有様が思い浮かばれる。詳しいことは紀行に譲って、ここでは略する。

There was a request to establish a kakesho (branch temple), and with the permission of the domain, from the seventh month of Genroku 3 (1690), Senryū-ji Temple in Fukuro-machi was made into a kakesho. In the twelfth month of the same year, temple grounds were donated within Furuwatari Village, and the kakesho was moved to its current location. From around the summer of the same fifth year, they began constructing temple buildings. On the twelfth day of the fourth month of the same thirteenth year, the priest Ichinyo passed away at the main temple in Kyoto, and during the time of his son, the great priest Shinnyo, on the twenty-eighth day of the tenth month of the same fifteenth year, the construction was completed. The main hall and all other halls were completely renovated, but rather than making priest Shinnyo the founder, priest Ichinyo was designated as the founding abbot according to the original wish. ○Principal image: Amida Buddha

Furuwatari Old Castle: The grounds of the eastern kakesho are exactly where it once stood. Oda Bingo-no-kami Nobuhide resided at Nagoya Castle, but after the birth of his eldest son Nobunaga in Tenbun 3 (1534), he gave Nagoya Castle to Nobunaga and built a castle at Furuwatari where he moved. After Nobuhide's death, it became a ruined castle and was turned into rice fields, but later became the temple grounds of the kakesho. The Nobunaga-ki records that Lord Nobunaga came of age here, and Sōboku's Tōgoku Kikō records that when Sōboku traveled east regarding the imperial palace repairs, he was ordered to convey an imperial edict to the castle lord Nobuhide here. This gives us a glimpse of the warring states period. For details, I defer to the travel record and omit them here.
