また大地震の時でも御門内は全く動かなかったという。また数十回の御神事において豪雨であっても、執行中だけは暫く雨が止むことは広く人々の知るところである。このように清潔で奇異なこともみな神威の知らしめるところであるから、尊さを仰ぐには余りある。また御境内及び御門外には古くより千余基の献灯が並び立っている。中でも海蔵門の内に長さ二丈四尺の石の大燈籠一基がある《銘に寛永七年庚午五月佐久間大膳亮平勝之寄進とある》。これは京都南禅寺に建つものと一対になっている。また近年の文政十三庚寅年には有信の諸人が相談して千余基の灯篭を一時に奉献し、なお古く傾いたものも一同に修理を加え、善美を尽くし、大小次序の位置まで、実に諸人の目を驚かせて一大壮観となった。 神位《日本紀略に曰く、弘仁十三年六月庚辰、尾張国熱田神に従四位下を奉授。続日本後紀に曰く、天長十年六月壬午、詔して尾張国に坐す従三位熱田大神に正三位を奉授し、并せて封十五戸を納む。文徳実録に曰く、嘉祥三年十月辛亥、尾張国熱田神に正三位を授く《按ずるに天長十年正三位を授給いし時、いまだ位記を奉らず、故に後此位を授給うならんか》。三代実録に曰く、貞観元年正月廿七日甲申、尾張国正三位熱田神に従二位を授く。同書に曰く、同年二月十七日癸卯、尾張国従二位熱田神に正二位を授く。同月十九日、尾張国熱田大県等神社に向い、神位記財宝を奉る。日本紀略及び正応四年の託宣記に正一位熱田大神宮と記せり》

Moreover, even during great earthquakes, the area within the sacred gates never moved at all. Also, during dozens of Shinto rituals, even in torrential rain, the rain would temporarily stop just during the performance of ceremonies - this is widely known among the people. Such purity and miraculous phenomena are all manifestations of divine power, so the reverence we feel is beyond measure. Furthermore, within the sacred precincts and outside the gates, over a thousand donated lanterns have stood in rows since ancient times. Among them, within the Kaizō Gate, there stands one large stone lantern measuring two jō and four shaku in length《The inscription reads "Donated by Sakuma Daizen-no-suke Taira no Katsuyuki in the fifth month of Kan'ei 7, year of the Metal Horse"}}. This forms a pair with one erected at Nanzen-ji Temple in Kyoto. Also, in the recent year of Bunsei 13 (year of the Metal Tiger), faithful people consulted together and dedicated over a thousand lanterns at once. The Shoku Nihon Kōki states: "In the sixth month of Tenchō 10, day of mizunoe-uma, by imperial decree, Shō-san-mi (Senior Third Rank) was bestowed upon Atsuta Ōkami of Ju-san-mi rank residing in Owari Province, together with fifteen tribute households." The Montoku Jitsuroku states: "In the tenth month of Kashō 3, day of kanoto-i, Shō-san-mi was granted to Atsuta Shrine in Owari Province《Upon examination, when Senior Third Rank was granted in Tenchō 10, the rank certificate had not yet been presented, so this rank was likely granted later》." The Sandai Jitsuroku states: "On the 27th day of the first month of Jōgan 1, day of kinoe-saru, Ju-ni-i (Junior Second Rank) was granted to Atsuta Shrine of Shō-san-mi rank in Owari Province. The same work states: In the same year, on the 17th day of the second month, day of mizunoto-u, Shō-ni-i (Senior Second Rank) was granted to Atsuta Shrine of Ju-ni-i rank in Owari Province. On the 19th of the same month, rank certificates and treasures were presented to Atsuta, Ōagata and other shrines in Owari Province.
