この山は畏れ多くも
天智天皇の勅願所であって大伽藍
であったが、中世の兵乱の災いにかかって
荒廃してしまった。わずかに残存している坊舎で
千年の昔を偲んで日夜の読経の声が
耳に留まり、ひとしお静寂である。

This mountain was reverently
an imperial temple established by Emperor Tenji's decree, and was a great temple complex,
but it suffered from the disasters of medieval warfare and
fell into ruin. In the few remaining temple buildings,
reminiscing about the thousand-year past, the sounds of day and night sutra chanting
linger in the ears, making it all the more tranquil.
