奥女中が五両を持ってやって来たので、嫁入りの口利きをすることになった。男ぶりは門之介と宗十郎の面差し、幸四郎と松介の粋な所に仲蔵の苦みを加えたような男である。千両屋敷の百か所に住みたいと話すので、親たちも得心して婚礼の支度にかかり、相手方の身元を聞いてもらえば、まず気がないと断られる。されども櫛、笄、小袖については言うまでもなく、銭湯へ行く上田縞に真田緒の駒下駄まで出来上がり、娘の支度が整ったのであった。
