現代語訳
按摩針の療師、肩下もみの代を恥じて十六文出す。
あとは二番目新狂言、十六文にて一幕入りした所に、存じの役者の顔も見え、ここが狐の得にて路考と杜若が美しく着に、親玉のきれいな芸を今はじめて見るとなれば、さてもおもしろしと感涙を流し、思わず二幕見れば三十二文。私は目が見えぬから聞くばかり十六文負け。察しやいと言う。
一幕は又と安いもの。狐を馬鹿にした人を盲目にした。

An anma (massage therapist) and acupuncturist, ashamed of the fee for shoulder and back massage, pays sixteen mon.
Next is the second performance, a new kyōgen play. Having entered for one act with sixteen mon, he sees the familiar actors' faces. Here, to the fox's advantage, Rokō and Jakaku appear beautifully dressed, and seeing the master's exquisite performance for the first time, he sheds tears of admiration, saying "How interesting!" Unintentionally watching two acts costs thirty-two mon. "Since I cannot see, I only listen," he says, getting a sixteen mon discount. "How perceptive," they respond.
One act is cheap indeed. The person who made fun of the fox was made blind.
