御行幸の次第、大方右の絵にも真似ると言えども、事も疎かや。これは物その数ならず、その時の結構さ、なかなか筆舌にも及び難し。京洛中の見物、国々より聞き伝え、稀代君主の体、この国始まってより、この方記録にも現れず。堀川をもっての装飾は、金銀をもって飾り、さて御行幸の体、公家・殿上人その外役々の次第、結構さ、笙・篳篥・管弦にて揚々ならせ給えば、本天まても響くやらんと聞こえけり。かような事、遠国・遠里の方々には見る人もよもあらじ。左様の方々にあらましとは、なかなか申すに及ばされども、見せ申さんそのため、大方絵にも真似るなり。もろこし・我が朝にも類い及ぶとぞ聞こえけり。

Regarding the order of the imperial procession, though we attempt to imitate it in the paintings on the right, our efforts are inadequate. These things are beyond number, and the magnificence of that occasion is truly beyond the reach of pen and tongue to describe. The spectators throughout the capital, hearing reports from various provinces - such imperial majesty has never appeared in any record since the founding of this nation. The decorations along the Horikawa were adorned with gold and silver, and the manner of the imperial procession, with court nobles, courtiers, and various officials in proper order, was so magnificent that when performed triumphantly with sho flutes, hichiriki oboes, and string instruments, it seemed the sound might reach even to the heavens. Such events would surely have no witnesses in distant provinces and remote villages. Though it would be presumptuous to claim we could show such distant places what it was like, it is for the purpose of conveying this that we attempt to imitate it in paintings. It is said that this rivals even the great occasions of China and our own court's history.
