すされは今地名を悉く挙け遠近に達し且は後代

四月十日に大風がありました。暁七つ時（午前四時頃）から朝巳の刻（午前十時頃）までのことでした。
所々の破損は少なくありませんでしたが、これも自然がなすわざわいですので仕方がありません。
世に住めば天の逆らいにも遭う風の
手すさみいっそう草屋にぞ見る
興味深いことに山浅く海深からぬこの御名国に生まれ合わせたのですから、誰であれありがたいことです。

This was fundamentally an extraordinary disturbance of heaven and earth, a battle between yin and yang. In the heavens it manifests as thunder and rain, and when lurking in the earth it reveals itself as earthquakes. Here, on the night of March 24th in the 4th year of Kōka (1847), year of the sheep, from the hour of the boar (around 10 PM), a great earthquake suddenly struck from around Minochi District in Shinshū.
