利家様が能登国を孫四郎様（利政）へお渡しになった時、村井豊後を（家臣として）お与えくださいと申し上げたところ、「それはできないが、奥村伊衛門をお与えしよう」と表向きからは斎藤刑部、岡田長右衛門を使者として御訴訟を申し上げ、御内証からは御母儀様がおっしゃったのは云々（以下略）
伏見にて孫四郎様が能登国をお受け取りになってから、村井豊後と奥村伊衛門に歳暮に御小袖を二着ずつお与えになった。特に豊後には長袴上下をお添えしてお与えになった。これは殿様の御内証ということである。さて徳山五兵衛、斎藤刑部、寺西宗衛門、神谷信濃、奥村主計、村井勘十郎に御小袖を一着ずつお与えになった。
孫四郎様を皆が感心申し上げた。第一は江守平左衛門に事情があって、大納言様が御斟酌なさり、村井豊後を使者として御内証に、孫四郎へ「平左衛門を他所へ遣わす者もなく、その上早年も寄り、不憫に思し召し、孫四郎様の話相手として抱えておかれるように」との御意があった。金沢では知行六百石を取っていたが、能登にて千石をお与えになり、お召し使いになった。その後、丹羽権助、小泉孫市郎、井口儀兵衛、九里九兵衛、半井（空白）、大道寺新四郎、皆殿様の御斟酌または御知行不足云々により、皆々に加増を少しずつお与えになり置かれた。年寄衆または下々の衆も利政様をほめ申し上げた。
伏見大地震の後、殿様を孫四郎様が自ら小屋にて御振舞いなさった。格別に御小屋の結構な作事を、殿様がお帰りになって御褒めになり、岡田長右衛門、斎藤刑部を（使者として遣わした）

When Lord Toshiie granted Noto Province to Magoshirō-sama (Toshimasa), there was a request to also grant Murai Bungo as a retainer, but the response was "That cannot be done, but I will grant you Okumura Iemon." Formally, Saitō Gyōbu and Okada Chōzaemon were sent as messengers to make this petition, while privately, the mother spoke about this matter... (abbreviated below)
After Magoshirō-sama received Noto Province at Fushimi, Murai Bungo and Okumura Iemon were each given two kosode robes at year's end. Bungo was particularly given long hakama and formal attire in addition. This was said to be the lord's private consideration. Furthermore, Tokuyama Gohē, Saitō Gyōbu, Teranishi Sōemon, Kamiya Shinano, Okumura Kazue, and Murai Kanjūrō were each given one kosode robe.
Everyone admired Magoshirō-sama. First was the matter of Emori Heizaemon - there were circumstances, and the Dainagon (Toshiie) showed consideration. Through Murai Bungo as messenger, privately to Magoshirō: "There is no one else to send Heizaemon to, and moreover, given his advanced age, I feel sympathy for him. Please keep him as a conversation partner for Magoshirō-sama." While he held a 600-koku stipend in Kanazawa, he was granted 1,000 koku in Noto and employed. Subsequently, Niwa Gonsuke, Koizumi Magoichirō, Iguchi Gihē, Kuri Kyūbē, Nakarai [blank], and Daidōji Shinshirō - all received the lord's consideration or due to insufficient stipends, and all were granted small increases and maintained in service. Both senior retainers and lower-ranking retainers praised Lord Toshimasa.
After the great earthquake at Fushimi, Magoshirō-sama personally entertained the lord in a temporary shelter. The particularly fine construction of the temporary shelter was praised by the lord upon his return, and Okada Chōzaemon and Saitō Gyōbu were [sent as messengers].
