現代語訳
ここにまた「ふんふく茶釜」という釜がある。別名「とんだ茶釜」とも言って、これは千年狸が化けた釜であることは人々の知るところである。しかし身を持ち崩した小金の釜が、近所へ通いかけて昼夜吉原へばかり入り浸っていたところ、小金の釜は近いうちに金の茶釜の方へ身請けされると聞き、残念には思うけれども、もとよりこちらへ身請けする金もないので、一番悪玉と出かけ、「うどん屋のとっくり」という遊び人を誘い、月夜の晩に小金の釜を盗み出したのである。
実に不届きなことだ。

Here there is another kettle called "Bunbuku Chagama" (Lucky Tea Kettle). Also known as "Tonda Chagama" (Flying Tea Kettle), this is a kettle that a thousand-year-old tanuki (raccoon dog) transformed into, which is well known to people. However, when Kogane no Kama (Golden Kettle), who had fallen into dissolute ways, was frequenting the neighborhood and spending all her time day and night in the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter, she heard that Kogane no Kama would soon be ransomed by Kin no Chagama (Gold Tea Kettle). Though she felt regretful, since she had no money to ransom her herself, she teamed up with the worst scoundrel and enlisted "Udon-ya no Tokkuri" (Udon Shop's Sake Flask), a playboy, and on a moonlit night, they stole Kogane no Kama.
Truly an outrageous act!
