〇山城 勝尾半左衛門
但馬ハ土方勘兵衛殿ノ弟竹田官内ト云モ土方弟但馬兄也宮内ハ但
馬弟ニ付テ牢人シ池田宮内少殿へ出三千石領シ名ヲカへ土方備中
守ト云其後佐々官兵衛ト云傍輩備中子ノ噂云シヲ 伝へ聞或
時城ノ門￣ニテ行合ハタシ勘衛ヲ討テ切腹ス
右前田貞里輯録一冊藩公文庫入之旧記也
今係亍吾加賀能登越中三ヶ国事実而已抜

〇山城 勝尾半左衛門
但馬は土方勘兵衛殿の弟である。竹田宮内というのも土方の弟で但馬の兄である。宮内は但馬の弟につき従って牢人し、池田宮内少殿へ出仕して三千石を領した。名を変えて土方備中守と言った。その後佐々官兵衛という傍輩が備中の子の噂を言ったのを伝え聞き、ある時城の門にて行き合って果たし合い、勘兵衛を討って切腹した。
右は前田貞里が輯録した一冊で、藩公文庫に入っている旧記である。今、我が加賀・能登・越中三ヶ国の事実のみを抜粋したものである。

Tajima was the younger brother of Hijikata Kanbei-dono. Takeda Miyauchi was also a younger brother of Hijikata and elder brother of Tajima. Miyauchi became a masterless samurai following Tajima's younger brother, then entered service with Ikeda Miyauchi-shō-dono and received a fief of 3,000 koku. He changed his name to Hijikata Bitchū-no-kami. Later, when he heard rumors spread by a colleague named Sassa Kanbei about Bitchū's son, he encountered [Sassa] at the castle gate on one occasion, fought a duel, killed Kanbei, and then committed seppuku.
The above is a one-volume compilation by Maeda Sadazato, consisting of old records housed in the domain's public library. This present work extracts only the historical facts concerning our three provinces of Kaga, Noto, and Etchū.
