○江沼郡内の黒谷合戦で、大将柴田三左衛門殿が押し寄せてきた際、私が一番に出陣して槍を合わせたが、深手を負って退いた。一番槍の証拠人は池田弥右衛門という者である。この他にも波佐谷、石塔ヶ合戦、石川一揆の時の白山への退却時の合戦、越中呉服山合戦など各所で少しずつ戦ったが、年老いて前後のことがわからなくなったので記さない。この一書も前後が混乱することがあるだろう。以上

○江沼郡内の日野谷合戦の時、敵の吉田左近が日野谷の城を保持していた。加賀国の全軍勢が押し寄せて攻撃したが、味方はその時弱くて退却した。堀才蔵という者と私の二人で反撃し、私は槍下で首一つを取った。証拠人は池田弥右衛門という者で、まだ当地にいるということである。

甥である佐久間玄蕃であった。私方は波佐谷という所の城に移って、丹波、岸田新四郎、三林善四郎の両三人で警備していたところ、敵が押し寄せてきた。城より突撃して出陣すると、敵方が味方を追い返した際、私一人が反撃して敵を突き崩した。私が仕留めた敵は、松平伯耆殿の叔父である近藤主水殿という方であった。その日二度まで反撃し、二ヶ所で槍を合わせて突き崩した。伯耆殿もご存知のことである。
○金沢尾坂口での合戦の時、敵には柴田修理殿が押し寄せられ、城主は下間寿保という者であった。私が頼んだ三林善四郎という者は尾坂大手の御門を固めていた。敵が御門へ押し寄せた所で、私が真っ先に出陣すると、敵方より小田七郎殿の家臣梶田新五と名乗る者が私と槍を打ち合わせた。新五を突き倒したが、私の主君の弟である三林久蔵という者が年十六で若い者ゆえ取り合いになった。その功績の褒美として久蔵には料箔十貫をくれた

○During the battle of Hinoya in Enuma District, the enemy Yoshida Sakon held Hinoya Castle. The entire forces of Kaga Province pressed the attack, but our side was weak at that time and retreated. Hori Saizō and I counterattacked together, and I took one head under spear point. The witness is a man named Ikeda Yazaemon, who is said to still reside in this area.
○During the battle of Awazu in Nomi District, the lord of Miyukizuka Castle was Sakuma Gemba,

nephew of Lord Shibata Shuri. Our side moved to a castle at a place called Hasatani, where Tamba, Kishida Shinshirō, and Sambayashi Zenshirō (two or three men) were stationed as guards when the enemy attacked. When we charged out from the castle, the enemy forces drove back our allies, but I alone counterattacked and broke through the enemy lines. The enemy I defeated was Lord Kondō Mondo, uncle of Lord Matsudaira Hōki. That day I counterattacked twice and engaged with spears at two locations, breaking through both times. Lord Hōki is aware of this.
○During the battle at the Ozaka entrance in Kanazawa, Lord Shibata Shuri led the enemy attack, and the castle lord was a man named Shimozuma Juhō. A man named Sambayashi Zenshirō, whom I had requested, was defending the main gate at Ozaka. When the enemy pressed toward the gate, I charged out first, and from the enemy side, a man identifying himself as Kajita Shingo, a retainer of Lord Oda Shichirō, crossed spears with me. I struck down Shingo, but there was a dispute over the kill with Sambayashi Kyūzō, my lord's younger brother, who was sixteen years old and still young. As a reward for that achievement, Kyūzō was given ten kan of silver certificates.
