申し候。並びに三林方よりは戦功の脇差一腰をくれ申し候。右の仕合では堀才助、井上勘左衛門両人は討死致し申し候。今一人の河内山次郎左衛門と申す者はまだ生存しております事。
○江沼郡内黒谷合戦の時、敵大将には柴田三左衛門が押し寄せ申し候が、私が出陣して一番に槍を合わせ、痛手を負って退き申し候。池田弥右衛門が存じております事。
○同郡内石坂合戦の時、柴田殿の人数が押し寄せ申した時も私が出陣し、石坂表にて働き申した時も手傷を負って退き申し候事。
○この外、朔之のかけ合いで首一つ、菅生浪のかけ合いで首一つ、瀧之原と申す所にて夜討ちに入り首一つ、三つ取り申し候。私の仕った名誉の働きとも伯耆殿がご存知ゆえ、大坂で仰せ付けられた吟味の刻、井口大学と申す者を以って篠葉織部殿まで書付を指し上げ申し候。則ち大学はまだ生存しておりますので知っているはずでございます事。
○私の世話をする三人を持ち申し候。嫡子の世話をする心得仕る義は不破丹波殿の

家中小姓の人がうっかり欠落仕り候処に、方々より追手をかけ申すにつけて、則ち堀才助と丹波殿は懇意の由ゆえ才助方よりも追手をかけ申し候。私の世話をする者が富山より才助方へ見舞いに参り居申し候折節でございましたので、則ち才助の小姓に大林助太夫と申す者と私の世話をする者両人が宮腰へ追手にかかり申し候処に、大野口にて見つけ候えば、はるかに逃げ申す所に助太夫は先へ走りつき戦い申すに、助太夫を早く折伏かせ申そうと仕る処へ私の世話をする者が走りつき、右の逃走人を止め申し候。その折節私の世話をする者は年十八でございました。この褒美として丹波殿より脇指一腰並びに小袖一つを給わり候。則ち不破源六殿がご存知でございます。同じ宮越町中の老人で今なお生存している者もあるはずでございます。このような義とも申し上げ候御事は軽々しく多言に存じ候えども、妻子共に今ほど困窮に陥り不便に存じ奉るゆえこのようにございます。以上

My retainer happened to be visiting Saisuke's house from Toyama at that time, so Saisuke's page named Ōbayashi Suketayū and my retainer both joined the pursuit to Miyakoshi. When they spotted the fugitive at Ōnoguchi, as he was fleeing far away, Suketayū ran ahead and engaged him in combat.
