参集した両殿下と左大臣が参上するよう命じられ、私は仰せによって相談し、その大夫史
【朱書】「大内巡検」
祐俊宿禰と外記通景が大内を巡見するため破損状況を確認しに向かった。まず郁芳門から入って見ると、神祗官には既に損傷はなかった。次に応天門の東西の楼を見て、次に大極殿に向かって行くと、西楼がかなり西に傾いていた。また大極殿の柱は所々で東に一二寸ほど寄っており、軒瓦が落ちかかっていてかなり恐ろしい状態であった。その他は元々の破損以外に大きな破壊はなかった。次に中院の神嘉殿を見て、次に官掌吉行を遣わして官外記庁を巡検させたところ、損失破損はなかった。そこでこの旨を両殿下に申し上げた。地震は大きく震動したが、殿門に破壊はなく、人々はこれを不思議に思った。未の刻頃に人々が退出し、夜に入ってまたかなり地震があった。誠に大いなる怪異である。
裏書
東寺の塔の九輪が落ち、法成寺の東西塔が立ち並ぶ金物が落損し、法勝寺の御仏等の光が多く損なわれた。おおよそ所々の塔が多く損なわれたという。
二十七日に小地震があった。一日後からこの両三日、時々小地震があった。二十八日に権大納言家忠卿が参上して杖座で定めて申し上げたのは、臨時百座仁王会の僧名と日時《割書：来月十五日｜など地震》の御祈りについてで、蔵人弁に日時を書かせた。

二十九日に江中納言が参上して杖座で軒廊の御卜《割書：中略｜》があった。外宮心御柱のことについて、次にまた一日地震の御卜も同様に行われた。

Sukejun Sukune and Outer Records Official Michikage went to inspect the palace for damage. First entering through the Ikuhō Gate, they found that the Bureau of Divinities had already suffered no damage. Next, they examined the eastern and western towers of the Ōten Gate, then proceeded toward the Great Hall of State, where the western tower was leaning considerably to the west. Also, the pillars of the Great Hall of State had shifted eastward by about one to two inches in places, and roof tiles were hanging loose, creating a quite frightening situation. Otherwise, aside from pre-existing damage, there was no major destruction. Next they examined the Shinka Hall of the Middle Court, then sent Official Supervisor Yoshiyuki to inspect the Bureau of Outer Records, where no losses or damage were found. They then reported these findings to the high court officials. Although the earthquake shook greatly, there was no destruction to palace halls and gates, which people found remarkable. Around the hour of the Sheep, people withdrew, and after nightfall there was again considerable earthquake activity. This was truly a great portent.
Postscript
The nine-ring finial of Tōji Temple's pagoda fell, the metal fittings of the eastern and western pagodas of Hōjōji Temple were damaged and fell, and many of the aureoles of the Buddha statues at Hōshōji Temple were damaged. Generally, pagodas in various places suffered much damage.
On the 27th there was a small earthquake. From one day later, for these two or three days, there were occasional small earthquakes. On the 28th, Provisional Grand Counselor Ietsugu attended and determined at the staff meeting to request a special hundred-seat Ninno-e ceremony, specifying the monks' names and timing《marginal note: next month, 15th day｜etc., for earthquakes》for prayers, having the Chamberlain Secretary record the date and time.

On the 29th, Middle Counselor Gō attended and there was imperial divination regarding the corridor at the staff meeting《marginal note: omitted｜}}. Concerning the sacred central pillar of the Outer Shrine, and again on the following day, divination regarding earthquakes was similarly performed.
