現代語訳
書物については、単に目を楽しませるためだけのものではない。それゆえ必ずやあの書物（山城名所図会）と肩を並べて走り、さらにそれを乗り越えて超越することは、手のひらを指すように明らかである。私はあらかじめ額田翁のためにお祝いを申し上げる。翁よ、それを記憶にとどめて験証されよ。

book is not merely for visual entertainment. Therefore, it will certainly run alongside that work (the Yamashiro Meisho Zue) and surpass it, as clear as pointing to the palm of one's hand.
