【右頁上段】
○翠雀（ルリ）は別名を翠鳥という。形は雀ほどの大きさがある。頭と背中ともに瑠璃色に光って美しい鳥である。チャルリというものもある。
○蝋嘴（マメドリ）は別名を竊脂という。形はヒヨドリほどの大きさで、嘴は太く黄色である。またシメという鳥は、形がマメドリと同じで、嘴は薄い赤色である。

○烏鳳（オナガドリ）は全身が黒く尾が長い。別名を王母鳥という。
○雀（スズメ）は頭がニラの粒のようで、目は山椒の実のようである。その性質は最も淫乱である。食べると陽気を盛んにし、気力を増し、腰や膝を温め、小便を止め、血崩や帯下を治す。頭は食べてはいけない。瘡（できもの）を発症する。

○The blue flycatcher (ruri) is also called the kingfisher bird (sui-chō). Its form is about the size of a sparrow. Both its head and back shine with a lapis lazuli color, making it a beautiful bird. There is also one called charuri.
○The hawfinch (mamedori) is also called setsushi. Its form is about the size of a brown-eared bulbul, with a thick, yellow beak. There is also a bird called shime, which has the same form as the hawfinch but with a light red beak.

○The azure-winged magpie (onagadori) has an entirely black body with a long tail. It is also called the Queen Mother bird (ōbo-chō).
○The sparrow (suzume) has a head like a garlic bulb and eyes like peppercorns. Its nature is extremely lascivious. When consumed, it invigorates yang energy, increases vitality, warms the lower back and knees, stops frequent urination, and treats uterine bleeding and vaginal discharge. The head should not be eaten as it causes sores to break out.
