【右頁上段】
○土蠱（どこ）は蛭に似て色が黄色である。頭は耳かきのようである。俗にみみかき蛭という。この虫は大毒がある。
○木虱（たに）は木や竹から発生する。シラミに似て丸く、青く灰色である。壁シラミと同じ。俗にたにこという。
○水蚤（とびむし）は別名水蝨という。湿地の土中に発生し、よく跳ぶ。ものもらいに付けると良い。
○水馬（しほうり）は別名水黽という。水上を泳ぐ。水が軽いので跳ぶ。長さ一寸ばかりで四足がある。

○蠑螈（いもり）は水中に住む。背中は黒く腹は赤く、四足がある。
○蝘蜓（やもり）は別名守宮という。この虫を殺して宮女の肘に塗ると、男を犯すことがあれば剥がれる。犯さなければ剥げない。よって守宮という。壁虎、蝎虎も同じ。
○蜥蜴（とかげ）は土中に住む。毒がある。石龍子、山龍と同じ。

【Right page, upper section】
○土蠱 (doko) resembles a leech and is yellow in color. Its head is like an ear pick. Commonly called "mimikaki-hiru" (ear pick leech). This insect is highly poisonous.
○木虱 (tani) are born from trees and bamboo. They resemble lice, are round, and bluish-gray in color. Same as wall lice. Commonly called "taniko."
○水蚤 (tobi-mushi, water fleas) are also called "suishitsu" (water lice). They are born in soil of wetlands and jump well. Good for applying to styes.
○水馬 (shiouri, water strider) is also called "suiyō" (water skater). It swims on water surfaces. Because water is light, it jumps. About one inch long with four legs.

○蠑螈 (imori, newt) lives in water. Its back is black and belly is red, with four legs.
○蝘蜓 (yamori, gecko) is also called "shukyū" (palace guard). When this insect is killed and applied to palace women's arms, it will peel off if they commit adultery with men. If they don't commit adultery, it won't peel off. Therefore it's called "shukyū" (palace guard). Same as "hekiko" (wall tiger) and "ketsuko" (scorpion tiger).
○蜥蜴 (tokage, lizard) lives in soil. It is poisonous. Same as "sekiryūshi" (stone dragon child) and "sanryū" (mountain dragon).
